new home for developmentally disabled people
This home for developmentally disabled people emphasises integration into a normal social environment. Subsequently, the height of the buildings is low (2 floors) and small scale due to the volumetry: different volumes are perpendicular to the long building volume that serves as the backbone. The square volumes are homes, each containing one living community. They can operate autonomously, with a separate entrance, kitchen, living space and bedroom. The living space can be divided into a dining, living, play and study corner.
Large windows allow plenty of natural light to enter and offer unobstructed views of the open environment. The stairwell and hallways have large window surfaces as well, in order to avoid dark corners. For safety reasons, the furnishing consists mainly of fixed furniture and built in wardrobes.
The long building volume contains the main entrance with a connecting passage between the squared volumes, and accommodates general facilities (office, reception room, multi-purpose room and general storage).
