replacement structure nursing home + new development service centre
The existing nursing home no longer meets the current functional standards: communal living is not possible, the rooms are too small, the distances too great, ... VK solves this with a very legible and flexible design, based on the organisation of types of users: staff, living groups, visitors.
The existing nursing home is located between a beautiful green area and various residential areas. Public facilities and public buildings are located nearby, such as a church and a community centre. VK reorients the nursing home so that living spaces and rooms focus more on the green zone, which may eventually be extended. The repositioning also creates a new axis between the surrounding buildings and the green zone, resulting in a square at the nursing home. This new circulation integrates the nursing home into the urban fabric and leads to greater engagement with the outside world.
This lively mix of features and users results in an easily accessible and approachable place, which is ideal for social contact.
