This psychiatric nursing home for 136 patients will be built on the campus of the psychiatric centre of Saint-Bernard (Manage), for whom VK has been active for many years. The site consists of 4 freestanding volumes and includes one nursing home with 60 beds and another with 76 beds.

For the most independent people, there are two “houses”, integrated into the urban fabric. For patients in need of temporary support there is the “intermediate structure” with 60 places. The “home nursing” unit also has 60 beds, for patients demanding constant care. All living spaces face north, where they look out over the green surroundings. The rooms face east and west. CAN activities centre was located in the centre of the site, with a small nearby amphitheatre.

As a whole, the design is conceived as a microcosm, with different construction volumes, a street, public and semi-public places, pedestrian areas, gardens, lawns, open views and fences. The concept wishes to contribute to the starting point of a psychiatric nursing home: social reintegration.
