This project is part of the "Black Spots"-program, with which the Flemish Government wants to eliminate 800 dangerous junctions over several years. This has to reduce the number of mortal traffic victims by half in 2010. VK, in temporary association with Duynslaeger & Co, Lobelle and SCES, got all of the assignments for West-Flanders.

The relayouting of the junction Expres road-Ghent road in Waregem is one of the most remarkable projects of the program. It consists of reparation of the approach and exits roads and the construction of a new bridge (3 lanes with a span of 22 metres) by using the existing banks. In realising the bridge, the heavy traffic in the triangle formed by the towns of Wielsbeke, Oostrozebeke and Ingelmunster can now get easily to the E17-motorway. The supralocal lorry traffic can now avoid the centre of the borough of Sint-Eloois-Vijve.

VK was responsible for the execution of the project - the study of the bridge construction was produced by the Concrete structures-service of the Agency for Roads and Traffic.
