In the fall of 2010, VK opened a new office in Brussels for its Healthcare-department. This move towards the capital on the one hand was inspired by VK's ambition to reinforce its leading position in Healthcare. On the other hand, VK had added 2 important Brussels projects in the last years, for which it wanted to be close at hand. One project, the Erasmushospital, is treated in another article. The other project is the University Hospital of Brussels.

In the first instance, VK developped a general spatial plan for the site. Afterwards, VK was asked to elaborate on a more detailled plan. As such, the University Hospital now disposes of a detailled statement of requirements, with relation matrixes, rooms lists and an orientation scheme for all services of the medical-technical block. In addition, VK was proclaimed the laureate of the architecture competition for the construction of this technical-medical block, the design phase of which is nearly completed. Meanwhile, VK has been asked to develop the next phase of the master plan: a new administrative block that connects to the care boulevard with a new main entrance. VK is pleased to be able to keep contributing to the future success of the University Hospital of Brussels.
