vk projects in saint-john general hospital presented to press

The Saint-John General Hospital keeps on modernising and refining its infrastructure. After a number of renovation projects and structural works, also by VK, the Saint-John General Hospital has presented some new and future projects.

VK has designed a large number of these new projects, such as the new obstetrics department. This offers as much comfort for the future parents, as it provides state-of-the-art technology. Structurally as well as medically, the Saint-John General Hospital now disposes of an ultramodern obstetrics department. An additional difficulty during the renovation was posed by the location of the laboratory underneath the obstetrics department: several ducts between the floors had to be replaced, with the laboratory remaining operational 24/24 hours.

Another new VK-project for the Saint-John General Hospital is phase 1 of the Neonatal Intensive Care, housing 20 boxes for the care of premature babies. In this unit, there was a main consideration, apart from the ultramodern medical care, for the user friendliness towards the mothers. In conclusion, 3 new digital operating rooms will be put into service in February 2012. This architectural and technical pilot project introduces many new techniques in Belgium and presents a new concept: operational as 3 separate rooms or as landscape rooms. We will take a closer look at these operating rooms in one of the following e-letters.
