The Hospital of Our Lady keeps on striving for top care. After the new day clinic, VK now sets to work on the existing buildings on the campus.

The first project concerned the consultations of pediatrics and children's psychiatry. A central reception desk with back-office registers the young patients and their companions. Pediatrics has 3 waiting areas, including one for children with possible contagious pathologies, 6 consultation rooms and a research area. The children's psychiatry has 6 consultation rooms with their own waiting area in a widened hallway. In this area, the existing columns have been covered with wood, like tree-trunks from which seats 'grow'. The warm colors provide a playful note.

The radiology department has also been extended and renovated. One of the linear accelerators needs to be replaced urgently, but the hospital didn't want to lose any capacity during the replacement works. After an analysis, VK proposed to construct a 4th bunker, that has been put into service after heavy structural works. Dressing cubicles, waiting areas and operating positions are located on the level of the bunkers. The reception desk, secretariat, consultation and doctor's rooms have been installed on top. Work on the outdated bunker has started, to be completed in July 2012.

At the same time, the emergency services have been completely renovated, in 2 phases so as to guarantee continuity of service. The department has been extended considerably, offering top care in a up-to-date and comfortable environment. Patients are admitted into a care path, according to the gravity of the medical problem. The department contains 4 treatment boxes, a double reanimation room and an observation room with 6 positions, along with a plaster room, isolation room, psychological box and personnel rooms. The emergency services were also extended with a low-care part for less serious cases.

Future projects include the renovating of the nursing units, intensive care unit, maternity, kitchen and a part of the operating theater. The nursing units will have more single rooms, and every room will have a complete wet room.
