Menen town hall opened its doors to the public on 22 and 23 December. Work was nearing completion by that time and since then the municipal departments have moved into the restored building. The project, based on a design of Noa architecten and with VK ENGINEERING responsible for the structural engineering, has been widely acclaimed.

The old town hall of Menen is a listed building, and has a prominent appearance in the townscape, amongst others because the belfry is part of the block of buildings. Several 20th-century embodiments however spoiled the effect of the totality. The renovation had to increase the readability of the town hall, while respecting the present patrimony.

Two important additions include a steel structure with new circulation axis between the building wings, and a concrete structure, giving the entrance and council chamber a new élan.
