2 important vk healthcare-projects open for the public
In the beginning of October, the O.L.Vrouw hospital of Aalst and the psychiatric centre Saint-Martin in Dave welcomed the public in two important extensions on their campusses. VK STUDIO designed the projects on both sites.

The O.L.Vrouw hospital has been an important reference for VK STUDIO for more than 20 years now. The opening of the new day clinic with consultation rooms and medical-technical rooms is a coronation on many years of close collaboration with the hospital management. As part of a master plan by VK STUDIO, this extension of 45.000 sqm supports the caring mission of the O.L.Vrouw hospital in a well-considered way. For example, the hospitalised and ambulatory patients are separated, and the medical-technical services and operation block have been concentrated in the heart of the hospital. The extension also meets some grievances from the past, such as problems with circulation streams and parking problems and the accommodation of some spearhead services.

The PC Saint-Martin of the Brothers of Charity is neither a stranger for VK STUDIO. The Brothers of Charity have been present in VK STUDIO's portfolio for decades with several projects. The PC Saint-Martin is no exception - in the past, VK STUDIO already designed several extensions on the campus, with now a new psychiatric home for 90 patients as latest addition. The two services (Escale and Notre Dame, according to the autonomy of the residents) have been designed as a micro-cosmos, with a street, (semi-)public places, gardens, houses, ... As such, the residents can be prepared more appropriately for reintegration. Meanwhile, VK STUDIO is working on a new project on the campus : the central kitchen with cafeteria.
