VK Architects & Engineers is a design and engineering firm with more than 65 years of experience and know-how. As a multi-professional and interdisciplinary company, we offer a wide range of services within the design process. Our architects and engineers design buildings and spaces where people can heal, enjoy education, work or relax.
We are active in two main areas: Healthcare design and Building Engineering. In Healthcare Design we offer all disciplines: from master planning and space planning, over architecture and interior, to structural engineering, M&E engineering, infrastructure and environmental construction. Within the hospital world, VK is now a renowned partner with dozens of references and more than 1 million m² of hospital projects in the last decade alone.
In Building Engineering, our engineers and landscape designers are at the service of architects, building owners and real estate developers for master planning, planning, structural engineering, M&E engineering, infrastructure and environmental construction. VK has worked on a number of iconic buildings in this field and has many internationally renowned architects and developers among its clients.
In addition, VK also offers highly specialised expertise for all clients: fire safety engineering, acoustical engineering, sustainable design and facade engineering.

VK Milestones
1952
Founder Hubert Van Kerckhove starts his professional activities and earns a solid reputation as a European reference in the development and engineering of industrial sites.
1964
Van Kerckhove joins the Order of Architects, and focuses on the Belgian healthcare sector.
1990
With Peter Van Kerckhove at the helm, VK enters a new phase of growth and internationalisation.
1999
As a member of the design team for the Antwerp law courts, together with Richard Rogers and Arup, VK is taking an important step on the international stage.
2002
Between 2002 and 2013, VK adds 4 Belgian greenfield hospitals to its portfolio for a total of 2830 beds.
2005
As the engineering partner for the new NATO headquarters, VK confirms its role in leading projects on an international scale.
2009
VK sets foot on Vietnamese soil, resulting in 3 greenfield hospitals in 10 years time.
2011
Paul Corbeel becomes the head of VK for a new chapter of specialisation and expansion.
2012
VK invests in advanced engineering disciplines, offering fire safety, acoustical, facade and parametric design.
2017
Down2Earth takes a majority shareholding in VK to support the international story.
2018
VK and Archetype Group join forces in the joint venture VKA Healthcare in order to offer high quality Healthcare Design in the Asian market.
