Distinguished visitors for construction site FPC Antwerp
Belgian Ministers of Justice Koen Geens, of Social Affairs and Public Health Maggie De Block and of the Interior Jan Jambon today visited the construction site of the Forensic Psychiatric Centre (FPC) Antwerp. The ministers are very much committed to the issue of detainees with psychiatric disorders.
In the past, Belgium has been convicted by Europe a couple of times, as detainees with psychiatric disorders are still put in prison, where they can’t adequately be taken care of.
After the FPC in Ghent was assigned, a tender was organized for an FPC in Antwerp, a design by VK Architects & Engineers. This centre, counting 182 places and the only one with a separate department for women, will be opened mid 2016. So at the moment, the final phase of construction is on its way.
