Located near the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, "Aquila Garden" comprises 83 new homes and 1 space for the liberal professions on the ground floor. The whole project was conceived as "passive". Each intervention (architectural or technical) is economically motivated on the basis of the importance of the energy saving.
- 9000 m²
Each architectural or technical intervention was ecologically justified, only investing in the options that gave the most return energetically.
This project in the area of the Brussels Jubelpark, has 79 living units and 6 commercial spaces on the ground floor. VK performed the energy concept (passive house) of this project and the M&E Engineering.
The project perfectly adapts to the terrain, in creating a green space that offers the living units optimal insolation. The last building has been lowered by deleting a floor, to improve the insolation. Long balconies with variable depths offer protection from the sun, adapted to each window. So each apartment has a a spacious terrace, optimised to the needs for shading.
The developer aimed to realise a building that very nearly reached the low-energy norm. So the entire project was designed as a passive building. Each architectural or technical intervention was ecologically justified, only investing in the options that gave the most return energetically. The passive measure was obtained without any specific interventions regarding airtightness or triple glazing.
