The private investment group Vingroup wanted to offer high quality health care in North Vietnam with a new hospital in a new Hanoi city district. Appointed as architect and M&E engineer, VK developed a design in 3 months. The hospital was built in just 10 months. A square at the central entrance anchors the hospital in this Eco City district, as the beating heart of a vibrant neighbourhood.
- 500 beds
- 82000 m²
The hospital consists of a central backbone, containing the main circulation routes, with 5 wings transversing it. As such, inner courtyards are created, and the overall scale of the hospital is reduced.
Vingroup wants to realise a new hospital in Hanoi, providing the north of Vietnam with world class healthcare. The temporary association VK-dwp was assigned to create a concept design, following the strategic principles in the feasibility study.
Located in a new urban development, the hospital links to its surroundings with a plaza, featuring also as a central entrance. The hospital consists of a central backbone, containing the main circulation routes, with 5 wings transversing it. As such, inner courtyards are created, and the overall scale of the hospital is reduced.
Internal corridors connect the various wings and create H-shaped wards, each having its own vertical circulation. Abundant outdoor spaces offer soothing views to the surroundings.
The modular and sustainable planning allows for elevated outdoor spaces, intermediate winter gardens, and lets natural daylight penetrate deeply into enclosed spaces. With this concept, VK-dwp have designed an environment that offers all aspects of a healing environment.
