BREEAM Assessment

BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building design, construction and operation and has become one of the most comprehensive and widely recognized measures of a building’s environmental performance. BREEAM provides you the market recognition for sustainable buildings and a system to help reduce running costs and improve working and living environments.

VK offers services as BREEAM Assessor, BREEAM Accredited Professional and BREEAM In-Use Auditor.

Our BREEAM International Assessor evaluates the performance of new buildings within international design standards. The measures used represent a broad range of categories and criteria from energy to ecology:

  • energy
  • water use
  • health and well-being
  • pollution
  • transport
  • materials
  • waste
  • ecology
  • management processes

BREEAM awards points or credits gained in each section and produces an overall score for a building, translated into a rating (pass, good, very good, excellent, and outstanding). It covers all building types: schools, healthcare buildings, retail, offices, industrial, residential …

The International Assessor introduces to the BRE the evidences needed to obtain certificates during the design phase (Interim BREEAM Certificate) and after delivery (Final BREEAM Certificate). We also coordinate extra studies if needed.

Our BREEAM In-Use Auditor evaluates the sustainability of existing buildings and sites according to the BREEAM In-Use method. The In-Use Auditor collects all necessary documents and information and introduces the evidence to obtain the BREEAM In-Use certificate.

Finally, the BREEAM Accredited Professional (AP) guides architects, engineers, clients and investors in the achievement of their environmental goals. The AP assesses the BREEAM sustainability criteria of your building project and guides you in the achievement of your environmental goals depending on the rating to reach. Crucially, this specialist advises all parties concerned during the design process. This enables designers and clients to set a list of priorities to obtain a High BREEAM score. This integrated approach proves to be a time and cost-effective method in the designing of sustainable new projects.
